I first saw the Wizard of Oz on video in 1980. So somewhere in time, the Wicked Witch of the West was the image I had of what an evil woman looked like. Yes, she scared me that badly!!!
Then in early 1981, a colossal event occurred which would throw my universe into upheaval with the airing of East of Eden, the first mini-series I ever saw. There was something about Jane Seymour acting as the wicked mother Kathy Ames who only lives for taken advantage of others includin
g her sons.
She is the living, breathing embodiment of evil, cloaked in heartbreaking beauty.
"Lady" Jane's career has been long and varied, playing everything from a Bond girl to a frontier doctor. I think her best on-screen partner was Christopher Reeve. Granted, we have the same first name, but I'm not nearly as tall as he was and probably not as good looking either. I wish I was though. Not to mention I envy Tom Selleck, Owen Wilson and Tony Dovolani. Need I say more?
Anyways, Jane has been as active as ever in the ten years since Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman was unceremoniously canceled because the higher-ups at CBS thought guys like me preferred to watch some fat out of shape martial artist wannabe over Jane Seymour? Huh?
She paints, she cooks, she dances, she uses alternative remedies which inspired me to follow suit. She has probably done or tried to do everything at least once in her lifetime. Now if only I could do something about my thinning hair! If I am ever going to become President of the United States one day, I need a good lock of hair like JFK and Reagan had and a beautiful wife like Jane.
Besides Jane having beautiful hair, teeth, eyes (lots of women tell me I have beautiful eyes), so on and so on, she is someone whom you would love to have as a neighbor, wife, daughter, sister-in-law, grandmother, high priced call girl. Basically anything but a $2 hooker.
So there you have it in a nutshell. With Jane, it isn't about quantity, but quality. "Live each day the fullest you can, not guaranteeing there'll be a tomorrow, not dwelling endlessly on yesterday."

jane is my fave actress as well! I always thought that she and Tom Selleck could've made a great Rhett and Scarlett in a remake of GWTW. Of course, that was back when there was talk about a remake or at least a sequel.
Like you, I am overwhelmed by her portrayal of Catherine Ames in East of Eden. I saw it for the first time just a few days ago. She was the highlight of the whole movie. To me, she is the epitome of beauty and have always been disappointed that she has been mostly overlooked when Hollywood names it most beautiful stars! I'll never understand it.
